Juegos-Trabajo-Empleo | How To Make A Living Without Giving Up The Good Life - Farm Diversification

Empleo

A simple search through the internet has proved so many farmers are looking at alternatives to giving up farming altogether. There is a wealth of information about farm diversity ranging from renting out land or buildings to a whole new life. Some of the diversification methods involve rare and exotic breeds I’m sure most of you have seen adverts for ostrich steaks and other weird and wonderful things to tempt your palate.

Juegos

I thought I might involve my children with raising animals for showing in the local fair. Here in Texas, some children graduate from school with a very large sum of money in their bank accounts obtained by showing animals at the county fair.

Then I saw some chickens raised by friends who did have those large bank accounts. The judge handled the chickens carefully and talked about what qualities of body shape and size he was looking for. When he set the birds down, they fell over. They could not walk! If you set them on their backs, they would probably just stay there. They were pathetic. When we heard how continual force-feeding had made them winners, I did not want my children to think this was a way to “profit” from animals.

I’m sure you’ll have heard a child say potatoes come from Asda. It’s a sad reflection on life today. We grew up just knowing how things grew or where the raw product came from, we as kids had to pick potatoes from the field, I can tell you when it’s freezing cold, wet and windy you don’t forget to appreciate the work involved just to get a meal on the table.

There are many valuable qualities heritage breeds have retained that the modern factory breeds have lost. Ease of reproduction, healthier meat, better flavor, all these are “profitable” elements. Not needing a vet, or even yourself, every time your cows give birth is a valuable characteristic, for instance.

There are a number of farmers who do keep these rare breeds from an altruistic view, some work as non-profits. I applaud their efforts. But I am convinced that a simple and good life is a life of profit and increase. The more that a farmer profits from the valuable characteristics of rare and unusual breeds - on a small, simple-life scale, the greater the chance that many of these wonderful breeds of farm animals can be preserved you can be Published without charge. Three Things to Look at When Planning to Build One - Chicken Hen House

There are many great reasons to build a chicken hen house in your backyard. You probably already know of the great benefits of being able to gather fresh eggs and have an invaluable source of fertilizer for your compost and backyard garden.

Along with making sure the coop is big enough to house the number of hens that you want to have comfortably, you also need a plan that takes into account ways to keep your birds health, safe, and easy to maintain.

The first thing the plan needs to have is to have the bases covered when it comes to providing your chickens with protection from other animals. There are a lot of ways that predators try to get into the coop, including digging, pushing through loose wire, climbing over the fencing, and from the air above. It is a really sickening feeling to discover that your hens have been killed or injured by these animals.

2. How well does it protect the birds from predators? Does it provide an area that is hard to access from both digging and from the air? Having a perimeter that discourages foxes, weasels, and dogs from trying to dig in is important, as well as having preventative measures to prevent hawks and owls from swooping in and grabbing the birds.

3. Is the coop built for optimal waste removal? This is something that can be laborious if it is not set up correctly. Having the hen house built so that it is adjacent to your compost pile and easy to remove is a definite plus as well as having a system in place to get rid of the ammonia.

Planning these things out ahead of time is a must to have a worry free and productive chicken hen house and to have healthy, happy chickens.
